Who Are You?

Romans chapter 12: 6b from The Message translation: "lets just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we aren't."

Usually we compare ourselves to someone we assume has more going for them than we do. Someone that has more talent, beauty, money, management skills, poise, charisma, patience, love, luck, the list goes on and on....

God's word tells us that we need to be the person He made us to be. Do you know who you are? Start making a list of things that you KNOW about yourself: skills, giftings, things you enjoy doing, things you have heard are talents of yours. Take the time to analyze where you are and where you want to be. Discover the area you are gifted in. I discovered through a spiritual giftings quiz that I have the gift of encouragement. I feel peace and joy when I get to listen to others and encourage them by praying with them and offering some advice.

Dave Ramsey has said "you will be the same person ten years from now as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read." What do you want to learn to do? Do you let other people mentor you and influence you in positive ways? If you feel a nudge to learn something that may be God's leading. Weigh out the options and if you feel God is leading you, Dive in!

Peace

Jeremiah 29:11-13 "'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the Lord,'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart."

We are often busy. Busyness in our culture is like a merit badge. The strongest woman is the one who is the busiest and can still hold everything together, or at least appear to... Often the first thing to go is our quiet time with God. The God who knows everything about us and still loves us unconditionally gets pushed to the back burner. The God who is our counselor, redeemer, savior, comforter, and the best possible friend we could ever have is the one we run to the least. God has been working on my heart to spend more time with Him. I desire to spend time with God but often I make choices to do other things like watch TV in the evenings or sleep a little longer in the morning. I know that I need to spend time with God. I don't mean that it is a requirement or legalistic commitment. I physically NEED time with God. There are physical benefits that come from constant connection with our creator. God offers us peace and joy when we are in fellowship with Him. A relationship with God is a natural anti-anxiety remedy. Prayer and spending time reading God's word maybe the only time you allow yourself to sit still in peace and quiet. We were created to have a relationship with God and with a need for the peace only He can offer. Give it a try, put God first and see what He does in your life! Philippians 4:6-7 says "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."

Jesus lover of my soul!

I often worship through singing praise songs to God. Here is the song God has laid on my heart today, I LOVE this song:

Jesus lover of my soul
All consuming fire is in Your gaze
Jesus I want You to know
I will follow You all of my days
For no one else in history is like You
For history itself belongs to You
Alpha and Omega You have loved me
And I will spend eternity with You.

It's all about You, Jesus
And all this is for You
For Your glory and Your fame
It's not about me
As if You should do things my way
You alone are God
And I surrender to Your way.

Diving Deeper

Following God is awesome. I desire to dive deeper into my relationship with God the Father, Jesus the son and the Holy Spirit throughout my whole life. A good friend of mine has encouraged me to do some writing to share what God has been teaching me. It is my hope that this site can be an outlet for me to share how God is taking me into the depths of His word. I pray that you would find the peace and joy that comes from relationship with the Savior, Jesus Christ.
